'Writing from the Body' Online
an Open Floor 'Art-in-Motion' series
'Writing from the Body' sessions are online movement and writing sessions designed to help you to connect to your creative pulse.
In these sessions, we get the blood pumping with some simple movement explorations to help us move from fixed to fluid. Then, we write.
Rata offers clear guidance, prompts and stirring music. You let yourself write, and the group is there to listen if/when you chose to share.
Sessions are held via Zoom.

- You're ready to think some fresh thoughts.
- You really want to write, but you just can’t seem to start when left to your own devices.
- The idea of writing creatively with others terrifies and/or excites you.

So often we think we need divine inspiration to write: in fact, inspiration is everywhere if our senses are awake. The human body is like a sensitive aerial that can be tuned to many strange and surprising channels.
Writing can help us gain clarity and become less rigid, to untangle from repetitive thought patterns and move in unexpected new directions. It works whether you consider yourself a writer or not. It doesn’t matter where you start: it matters that you start. These classes will offer prompts and provocations to get us going. We’ll follow where our writing takes us, and there will be opportunities to share. I know you are probably sick of being online, but you won't have to look at the screen much for these sessions, I promise. You will be mainly looking at your pen writing intriguing words across the page and listening to others' creations. Sessions are held via Zoom.
